Bio
In short, I'm a very adaptable, self-driven, dependable creative with a broad skill set.
The long version
A highly motivated, award winning, art director / conceptual creative with over twenty five years in the game. Worked on everything from public sector, fashion start-ups, high-st banks, automotive and construction to the biggest household FMCG brands out there delivering proven results along the way.
I’m happy sitting in a room with clients, by myself, or working as part of a creative team.
I have the experience and ability to come up with the idea, scamp the visual / story board it, or create a key visual using adobe creative suite or create a mood film using basic editing software or a social post. I also have the ability able to manage a team of designers and editors to develop a project and see it through its' development journey into the big wide world while adhering to budgets and time constraints.
Outside of the creative industry
For the past 38 years I have been skateboarding. For a while representing companies throughout the industry and riding for well known brands such as, Converse and Duffs shoes and various skate brands from San Francisco. This also involved doing demo’s for Sony, gaining photographic coverage in magazines in the UK and US, spending a considerable amount of time in the Bay Area of California and travelling extensively throughout Europe. With nearly 4 decades under my feet I am able to offer advice to brands and choreograph skateboarders and BMX riders for stills and film.
The rich experience from my outlets continues to fuel me as an individual and is reflected in my enthusiasm as a creator.
I’m available for freelance as well as any film related choreography and consultancy related to skateboarding and action sports from Spring 2024

curb cuttings
project
Curb Cuttings is a self initiated art project, my homage to skateboarding and the whole style aesthetic, celebrating a whole range of skaters, their legacy and impact and the moments that have made skateboarding special to me.All made with just a scalpel, some paper and a few dabs of glue. Which is my preferred method of working. I love the realness of cutting someone out with a scalpel and the delicate, careful tearing of paper, however I am also able to switch medium and successfully apply a similar visual technique in a digital format.
Since 2019 when I made my first piece I have continued to focus and develop a range of styles which I apply to my work. Along the way I created Curb Cuttings Volume One. Which was a great process collaborating with the likes of Grant Brittain, Tobin Yelland and the legendary Glenn E. Freidman. All of whom were very supportive. I guess they could see it was more aboutcelebrating skateboarding than wanting to just take from the culture. The zine had a positive response an people started to take notice,
I followed up with a Vol2 zine which was co -produced by an instagram follower of mine called ilovedust a world renowned design agency. In 2022 the momentum continued. I was approached by San Francisco based and world renowned magazine Thrasher who did a Curb Cuttings ‘canvas’ feature in their July 2022 issue.
In 2023 a commission followed for UK mag - The Skateboarders Companion. Recently, I have just completed high profile pieces including the cover art for San Diego based archive Closer Skateboarding magazine. This was followed by a piece for the DESIGN MUSEUM in London.
So what next? I want to continue to visually contribute to skateboarding. The next step I’d like to take would be to create board graphics or help set the art direction for a brand using the unique Curb Cuttings style as well as producing Curb Cuttings volume 3 or a book.
